पुलिस के अनुसार, specific intelligence, human intelligence, technical intelligence और लगातार field surveillance के आधार पर आरोपी तक पहुंच बनाई गई। जांच के दौरान आरोपी ने अपने साथियों के साथ कई snatching और vehicle theft incidents में शामिल होने की बात बताई है।

More than 100 CCTV camera footages analysed to identify and track the accused.
01 stolen Hero Splendor motorcycle and 04 stolen mobile phones recovered.

Accused disclosed his involvement in multiple incidents of snatching and vehicle theft along with his associates.
BRIEF:
In a significant success against street crime, snatching and motor vehicle theft, the staff of AATS/East District has apprehended an active snatcher-cum-auto-lifter, namely Rohit Kumar (21 years), R/o Jawala Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi. The accused was apprehended following sustained efforts involving specific intelligence, human intelligence, technical intelligence, field surveillance and detailed analysis of more than 100 CCTV camera footages. His apprehension has resulted in the recovery of 01 stolen motorcycle and 04 stolen mobile phones, besides working out 05 cases of snatching, MVT and mobile theft registered in East District.
TEAM, INCIDENT & INVESTIGATION:
With a view to curb snatching, motor vehicle theft and street crime, the staff of AATS/East District intensified preventive checking, patrolling, surveillance and local intelligence gathering. The team worked under the close supervision of Ms. Amandeep Kaur, ACP/Operations, and under the leadership of Insp. Pramod Kumar, I/C AATS/East District. The dedicated team comprised SI Vikram Singh, SI Subhanshu, ASI Neeraj, ASI Ajay, ASI Rajeev, ASI Praveen, HC Manoj, HC Rahish, HC Vikrant, Ct Virender and W/Ct Tamanna.
On 21.09.2026, HC Manoj Kumar and HC Rahish developed specific information regarding the movement of an active snatcher-cum-auto-lifter in East District. During investigation, the team analysed more than 100 CCTV camera footages, wherein the accused along with his associates was captured while committing snatching incidents. The photographs of the accused captured through CCTV footage were shared with a secret informer network for further identification and verification. Simultaneously, human intelligence and technical intelligence were developed. The team reached District Centre, Laxmi Nagar, where a secret informer met the police team and identified the person shown in the photographs as Rohit Kumar, stating that he was staying at Hotel in Jagatpuri, and could be apprehended if a raid was conducted. Acting promptly on the information, the team reached Hotel in Jagatpuri, Delhi, where one person was found present. He disclosed his identity as Rohit Kumar. During interrogation, CCTV photographs and footage pertaining to snatching incidents committed by him along with his associate Rocky at PS Preet Vihar were shown to him. The accused disclosed that he, along with his associates Rocky and Bhola, used to commit snatching incidents. He further disclosed that Rocky and Bhola had already been arrested by the police and the scooty used in the snatching incidents had also been seized. On the instance of the accused, the team reached the parking area behind Hotel Crown Plaza, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, from where the following stolen property was recovered 01 black-colour Hero Splendor motorcycle, bearing registration No. DL7SCF**, stolen in PS Shakarpur and 04 stolen mobile phones. During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed his involvement in multiple incidents of snatching and motor vehicle theft. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the accused's involvement in other cases of snatching and vehicle theft.
PROFILE OF ACCUSED:
Rohit Kumar, aged 21 years, R/o Jawala Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi, is an active snatcher-cum-vehicle thief. During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he was addicted to alcohol and used to spend money on his girlfriends.
PREVIOUS INVOLVEMENT:
The accused has previously been involved in the following cases:
1. FIR No. 99/23, U/s 186/353/332/34 IPC, PS Chandni Mahal.
2. FIR No. 443/24, U/s 303(2) BNS, PS Kamla Market.
3. E-MVT No. 80126060/24, U/s 304(2)/317(2)/3(5) BNS, PS Railways.
