WR-II, CRIME BRANCH, DELHI APPREHENDS PROCLAIMED OFFENDER IN NDPS CASE THROUGH SPECIFIC SECRET INFORMATION AND EFFECTIVE FIELD COORDINATION.

 NARCO OFFENDER ACCUSED ANURAG KUMAR @ RAHUL, S/O LATE SHIV KUMAR, AGED 23 YEARS, R/O RAJA PURI, DABRI, NEW DELHI WAS ARRESTED.
 APPREHENSION EFFECTED ON THE BASIS OF SPECIFIC AND CREDIBLE SECRET INFORMATION.
 THE ACCUSED HAD BEEN DECLARED A PROCLAIMED OFFENDER (PO) BY THE COURT OF LD. ASJ MS. BHAWNA KALIA, SPECIAL JUDGE (NDPS), DWARKA COURTS.
 OPERATION REFLECTS ALERTNESS, PROMPT RESPONSE, INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPMENT AND COORDINATED FIELD ACTION BY THE WR-II TEAM.
 THE APPREHENSION WAS CARRIED OUT IN CONNECTION WITH THE PENDING JUDICIAL PROCEEDINGS AGAINST THE ACCUSED.

INTRODUCTION:
A team of WR-II, Crime Branch, Delhi, displayed commendable professional acumen and effective field coordination in apprehending accused Anurag Kumar @ Rahul, S/o Late Shiv Kumar, aged 23 years, R/o Raja Puri, Dabri, New Delhi. The accused was apprehended on the basis of specific and credible secret information and was declared a Proclaimed Offender by the Court of Ld. ASJ Ms. Bhawna Kalia, Special Judge (NDPS), Dwarka Courts, vide order dated 19.03.2026 in FIR No. 050/2025, U/s 8/20 NDPS Act, PS Uttam Nagar, Dwarka District.
The successful operation reflects the alertness, prompt response, professional investigation, effective intelligence development, and coordinated efforts of the WR-II team. The timely and well-coordinated action by the team resulted in the successful apprehension and arrest of the wanted narco offender. The team’s dedication, vigilance, operational efficiency, and commitment towards the prevention and detection of crime are highly commendable.
INFORMATION, TEAM & OPERATION:
Crime Branch is mandated to work upon the narco offender. Both manual and technical surveillance were mounted to closely monitor the movements of suspects. During the course of surveillance, SI Kuldeep Singh developed reliable secret information, which was duly corroborated through technical analysis by SI Ravi Bhushan. Sustained and continuous efforts were made over the past one month to trace and apprehend the accused persons.
During surveillance, it was revealed that Anurag Kumar was present in the area of Dwarka Mode, Delhi. Considering the serious nature of the offences and the potential threat posed by the accused, a dedicated team of WR-II, Crime Branch, led by Insp. Gautam Malik and comprised SI Kuldeep Singh, SI Ravi Bhushan, HC Pawan Hooda and Ct. Mukesh, under the close supervision of Sh. Raj Pal Dabas, ACP/WR-II, was constituted by Sh. Harsh Indora, IPS, DCP/Crime Branch to apprehend the accused.
Acting swiftly and decisively on the developed intelligence, the team successfully apprehended the accused at *Dwarka Mode, Delhi*. During his prolonged period of abscondence, the accused made deliberate efforts to conceal his identity and whereabouts to evade arrest. He frequently changed his place of residence and employment and worked at different hotels/spas across various locations, thereby making sustained efforts to avoid detection and apprehension by the police.

PROFILE & MODUS OPERANDI OF ACCUSED:
During sustained interrogation, accused Anurag Kumar @ Rahul disclosed that he had studied up to the 8th standard, after which he discontinued his studies due to lack of interest in academics. He further disclosed that, while working as a helper at different hotels/spas, he came into contact with Bharat Kumar @ Mogli and his wife Ujma, who were allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities. Subsequently, he came into their association and allegedly started dealing in illegal cannabis/ganja. In FIR No. 050/2025, U/s 08/20 NDPS Act, PS Uttam Nagar, the accused was apprehended by the police team of PS Uttam Nagar while allegedly dealing in ganja, and approximately 2 kg of illegal cannabis/ganja was recovered from his possession.
He was arrested in the said case and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. Thereafter, he was released on bail on 03.04.2025; however, he subsequently absconded and deliberately evaded the process of law, resulting in his being declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) by the competent court. During interrogation, it was further revealed that Bharat Kumar @ Mogli was also arrested in connection with narcotics-related activities and is presently out on bail, whereas his wife, Ujma, is presently lodged in Chanchalguda Jail, Hyderabad, in proceedings under the PITNDPS Act.
The accused, Anurag Kumar @ Rahul, is the son of Late Shiv Kumar and is 23 years of age. He is a resident of A-122, Gali No. 29, Raja Puri, Dabri, New Delhi. He has studied up to the 9th standard and is unmarried. He has been working as a helper at hotels/spas. As per available records, he has no previous criminal involvement. Both of his parents have expired. He has an elder brother, namely Vishal, whose present whereabouts are not known to him.
